How DR.EASY Helped an Australia and New Zealand Automotive Care Brand Scale into Retail Chains
A long-term OEM case study covering customized automotive wet wipes, liquid formulation development, nonwoven material selection, retail packaging design, and scalable supply across the Australia & New Zealand market.
Back in 2008, an Australian distributor contacted DR.EASY seeking professional car wipes, hoping to develop a customized product line tailored to the local market.
This project initially focused on product development and market testing, but gradually evolved into a long-term partnership. Since 2009, the two parties have collaborated continuously, focusing on product improvement, manufacturing, and product line expansion.
Our collaboration extends beyond product manufacturing to include liquid formulation development, nonwoven fabric selection, packaging design, and production planning—all aimed at meeting the needs of the Australian and New Zealand car care markets.
The final car care products are sold through a range of established automotive and retail channels in Australia, including both online and offline sales environments.
The combination of e-commerce, dedicated car dealerships, service outlets, and gas station channels allows this product line to reach different car consumer groups in the market.
The client wanted to develop a line of car wipes that outperformed traditional products on the market while meeting the visual and positioning requirements of established retail channels.
Ordinary glass wipes may leave visible streaks after wiping and have limited anti-fog effect. Customers need clearer glass and more consistent cleaning results, especially in humid or cold environments.
Existing interior cleaning wipes often leave dashboards and plastic trim pieces looking overly shiny. The customer requested a softer, lower-gloss finish to align with the high-end product positioning.
Traditional flexible packaging bags have limited visual differentiation in retail environments. Clients want packaging structures that enhance shelf display and provide a more distinctive look.
This project requires a flexible OEM supplier. The supplier needs to adjust the liquid formulation and nonwoven fabric material to meet the client's needs. Packaging and production details also need to be customized according to project requirements.
Based on the product requirements, DR.EASY developed four automotive wet wipe lines, with each product adjusted according to its intended application, liquid formula, and nonwoven substrate.
| Product Line | Liquid Formula & Material Development | Value Delivered |
|---|---|---|
| Glass Wipes | PP woodpulp nonwoven fabric combined with anti-fog agents | Improved liquid absorption, reduced streaking, and enhanced anti-fog performance |
| Leather Wipes | Natural Carnauba Wax formulation used in place of conventional dimethicone oil | Conditioning performance with a more natural-looking sheen |
| Protectant Wipes | Cleaning agents balanced with UV inhibitors and surface protectants | Helped restore dashboards and trim to a refined matte finish while providing UV protection |
| Multi-Purpose Wipes | Textured nonwoven fabric paired with a versatile cleaning formula | Effective cleaning across a wide range of automotive surfaces |
Streak-free cleaning with anti-fog performance for automotive glass.
Refined matte finish for dashboards and interior surfaces with UV protection.
Versatile textured nonwoven wipes designed for multiple automotive surfaces.
DR.EASY does not use a uniform standard formula; instead, it tailors the liquid formulation to the function and surface requirements of each product.
The glass cleaning product uses PP wood pulp nonwoven fabric to enhance absorbency and wiping performance, and an anti-fogging agent is added to the formula.
The leather care product uses natural carnauba wax instead of traditional dimethyl silicone oil, providing nourishment while maintaining a more natural shine for the leather.
The protective agent formula combines cleaners, UV inhibitors, and surface protectants to achieve the desired low-gloss effect and help protect interior surfaces from UV damage.
The multi-purpose cleaning product uses a textured nonwoven fabric base with a multi-functional formula suitable for various automotive surfaces.
Product performance is only one part of the project. Product packaging also needs to achieve greater differentiation in the automotive retail environment.
DR.EASY developed a stand-alone flexible pouch structure with a brightly colored rigid top, providing a more eye-catching form for shelf display.
The packaging uses a three-layer aluminum foil composite material, combined with a custom foil window design, to create a more distinctive and high-end visual appearance.
The structure also allowed the product range to maintain a consistent visual identity while leaving room for customized branding and product variations.
The collaboration between the two parties gradually evolved from initial product testing to regular commercial supply and long-term product development.
The Australian distributor approached DR.EASY with requirements for specialized automotive wet wipes, including customized formulas, materials, and packaging.
The client placed an initial test order of 20,000 packs valued at USD 20,000 for market testing through automotive retail channels.
Following positive market acceptance, joint operations expanded to cover ongoing formula R&D, production, and broader distribution.
As reorder volumes increased, shipments progressed from LCL (Less than Container Load) to recurring FCL (Full Container Load) shipments.
Since 2009, DR.EASY and the client have continued working together on product development, manufacturing, and product range expansion, forming a long-running OEM partnership.
Long-term partnerships are not solely built on product performance. Consistent quality, communication, product development support, and reliable supply are all key factors in maintaining long-term collaborations.
